Roots of Union Minière triggered a complex and diversified historic development 

Origins of SOGEM being UM's trading organization mainy involved in base metals and concentrates and primarly serving Europe, Africa and Asia 

Union Minière changes name into Umicore. SOGEM transforms into Umicore Marketing Services (UMS).

• Focus on commercialization of Umicore products 
• Continuation of third party agency & distribution activities in complementary business areas 
• Discontinuation of non-related trading activities by merging SOGEM with Arcelor-owned Considar to form Traxys.

Umicore spins off Traxys by selling majority stake to Traxys management

UMS internal re-organization to improve commercial efficiency and better support Umicore's growth strategy. 

Carve-out of selected Zinc activities into EverZinc  (Reduction of UMS offices)
